My work is part of a local exhibit at the H st mall in Chula Vista. Organized by art through the glass the exhibit is meant to showcase local artists in empty storefronts.
My piece is a Mexican gray-haired wolf which is actually a species which should occupy more of the San Diego area but has been removed and replaced. The California wolf center in Julian is breeding these wolves and returning them to their native habitat. Pup fostering is an intensive practice which allows them to be raised in the wild and not attached to humans.
It is an uncertain for all of us with the threats of climate destruction. I want to imagine a different future for the wolf, and all of us.
