Biography & CV
Laura Green is visual artist living in San Diego, CA. Green’s work is motivated by a desire to envision a livable planet. Her work raises awareness about the fragile relationships we have with nature which often go unnoticed and unappreciated. During times of chaos and upheaval, spending time in nature helps reduce stress and anxiety. The future of our planet is uncertain but appreciating the complex relationships between plants and animals and even non-living elements grounds us.
Born and raised in southern California, Green draws inspiration from her time hiking local trails with her family. Maps and navigation have always intrigued her, and many of her paintings show figures on journeys.
Green has increased her knowledge of native plants and animals since she began homeschooling her children. A frequent visitor to nature centers and libraries, she focuses on local conservation, such as the Tijuana and San Diego Rivers. By depicting these fragile areas in a restored state, she hopes viewers will support conservation efforts in their own neighborhoods.
