About the Artist
Laura Green is visual artist living in San Diego, CA. Green’s work examines the systems of living and nonliving things which connect us. Born and raised in southern California, Green received a BA in Fine Art from UC Santa Cruz. Finding a job in the arts was difficult, so she spent some time teaching, traveling and raising a family. During the pandemic, she returned to her art practice and received a certificate from UC San Diego extension and a post-baccalaureate from UC Berkeley extension.
Green draws inspiration from spending time in nature with her family. Maps and navigation have always intrigued her, and many of her paintings show figures on journeys. Green has increased her knowledge of native plants and animals since she began homeschooling her children. A frequent visitor to nature centers and museums, she focuses on Southern Californian conservation, such as efforts being made in the Tijuana and San Diego Rivers. By depicting these fragile areas, she hopes viewers will support conservation efforts in their own neighborhoods.
