About the Artist

Laura Green is visual artist living in San Diego, CA. Green’s work examines the systems of living and nonliving things which connect us.  Born and raised in southern California, Green received a BA in Fine Art from UC Santa Cru. She spends her time painting and raising a family. During the pandemic, she returned to her art practice and received a certificate from UC San Diego extension and a post-baccalaureate from UC Berkeley extension. She is a member of numerous local art collectives and shows her work in a variety of public settings, such as libraries and community centers.

Green draws inspiration from spending time in nature with her family. Maps and navigation have always intrigued her, and many of her paintings show figures on journeys to symbolize the interconnectedness of people and nature. Through homeschooling her children, Green has increased her knowledge of native plants and animals. A frequent visitor to nature centers and museums, she focuses on the unique Southern Californian ecology and supports conservation for the Tijuana and San Diego rivers. By depicting these threatened areas, she hopes viewers will be curious to learn more about them and support organizations which protect and restore them.
